GAINN4SEA

The role of Consorzio 906:
Coordinator

GAINN4SEA (GAINN for South Europe Maritime LNG Rollout) will draw from the funds available for the “Pre-identified projects on the Core Network Corridors”, sub-priority “Maritime ports”. It will only involve the infrastructure works at the ports of Venice and Livorno, to be
coordinated by Consorzio 906 with the participation of industrial partners such as Venice LNG, ENI Costiero Gas Livorno SpA and Neri Vulcangas Investimenti Srl, supported by the Port Authority Network of the Northern Adriatic Sea and of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea.

Objectives

  • Relief for the infrastructure bottlenecks that impede the development of the transport chain and cross-border multimodal distribution of LNG along the main corridors by setting up two new LNG storage facilities at the central ports of Livorno and Venice, which are key elements in the interconnection of maritime and terrestrial traffic flows
  • Decarbonisation of the transport sector in Italy and in the Balkan region by eliminating the functional barriers to LNG supplies to the market and to the marine transport sector in particular
