It was formed in 2012 as a branch of Federazione Imprese Associate (FIA); its members come from different sectors specialising in ICT, LNG (liquefied natural gas), planning, and the management of skills, training and distance learning, tourism and other services.
he consortium provides planning and technical services for a cluster of Italian business associations including Federazione Imprese and CONFIMEA, representing more than 350,000 companies. It has supported public bodies such as Chamber of Commerce Union of Veneto, RAM (Italian Coastal Motorways Network), the General Command of the Italian Port Authorities, the multimodal hub at Pordenone and MIT (Italian Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport), by organising projects that reflect the strategic guidelines set by the government.
Consorzio 906 is the MIT’s implementing body for the main initiatives linked to the Call CEF (Connecting Europe Facility). It helps to define ICT, marine safety projects, and actions to develop the national LNG distribution infrastructure for marine and road transport through the GAINN_IT initiative.
In June 2018 the total value of European projects for which the Consortium provides technical assistance, and acts as an operational Partner, exceeded €250 million: €210 million for the GAINN_IT project and 40 million for transport digitalisation.
